Speaking to my wifes uncle who was shot down over France as part of Bomber Command. He was hiddden by the Resistance for several months until US troops overran the forest where he was. I asked him how he contacted the Resistance when he hit the ground. He stated he hid in his parachute till it was light then jumped out of the bushes at the first Frog on a bicycle that came past.

Surprisingly enough they helped him. Pretty bloody lucky I say!

Good story. I hope you have this in writing or on tape, for your family.

The Imperial War Museum might want it, too.
