    Anyone know where the D.R.A.C. Monthly Liaison Letters might be found at Kew?

    Edit - sorry, that was a bit vague. They are Royal Armoured Corps reports detailing developments in areas such as equipment, organisation and weaponry.

    Thanks,

    Gary

    I don't think they are at Kew. The Tank Museum has the only copies that I know of.

    There is a 300+ page CMHQ file (ref: 55/530/9, running to five vols) at Héritage which frustratingly only seems to contain a few fragments from these letters amid a mountain of correspondence.

    I had found a similar file previously for the R.A. Notes and Chris has since found the missing Notes filed elsewhere, so maybe the same is the case with the DRAC Liaison Letters.

    Thank you both the info. It's a shame they aren't at Kew, and getting them from the Tank Museum would cost a good deal more I'm sure.

    I found a few uploaded to onedrive by an author I've spoken to once or twice over the years;

    Companion to "On Armor": Royal Armored Corps Liaison Letter 1943-1945

    They are mostly 1945 issues.

    The Canadian Archives do seem to have paper copies but not digitised ones;

    Archives Search - Library and Archives Canada

    I might mull over asking a Canadian researcher I've used before to look into them for me.

    Thanks,

    Gary

    Well, I could put those in my list of things to photograph next time I'm there. Not sure when that will be, though.

    Oh that's a very gracious offer, but there would be far too many pages in there. If a single letter runs to an average of 40 pages then just 1944 would be easily 500. It was only a whim on my part (don't tell VP but I'm not a tank guy!).

    Well, sure, but there may be things in there of interest to me as a tank guy. It might take multiple visits, but apparently I photographed more than 500 pages at LAC on Thursday.

    The DRAC Liaison Letters are definitely worth getting a hold of - the only one I've got is a photocopy of No.27, which is about 30 pages long, half of which are appendices. Good stuff, though.

    Chris, if you could get copies from the archives I'm sure they'd be of interest to a lot of armour enthusiasts on the board. The ones already posted in the link (and the similar 21AG ones you highlighted previously) do contain a great amount of info. Thanks,

    Gary
