    Photos taken by the same man. Seller said they were British foxholes. English field positions [on] the Scheldt. [ Thanks to Nido.] and a Castle in Belgium [ Thanks to John West for the ID ] used by the BEF and last photo German with a survey instrument, gun laying ?.Photos taken by someone in the German 58th Infantry Division [ ReiterRgt 58 InfRgt58 Kampf ]
    German on the back gives more info on photos. My German is not good.

    Picture 5 certainly looks like like a theodolite but a very simple one. I would expect the old 67th Surveyors to comment "If thats the best they can do, they deserved to lose the war."

    Edit: Perhaps you should tag the thread Royal Artillery Survey.
    It might of course be a civil engineering theodolite used for new or replacement buildings by a German Civil Engineer/ Surveyor.

    Re #323.
    The first word could partially be guessed out/supposed as "Feldwach-...". The second one is clearly "Barge". But.., what could it be?

    The German who took the photos must have had a good camera as the negs are very good.
    I wonder how many of this lot survived the war?

    Just to add a peculiar detail; the letter "z" in the word "Panzer" is written rather as "tz".

    Some negatives from my collection along a beach and a air force unit with cars.. i think they could be 1940.
    Looks like on some dunes with a town in the back ground. Can anyone ID the area?
