I am currently researching my Dad's cousin, William Ernest Bowden Miller, who, at the time of Dunkirk was 6142501 Private W. E. Miller of the 2nd/6th Battalion The East Surrey Regiment.
He was cut off north of Rouen and made his way to Gibraltar via Paris, Lyon and Spain. I have a lot of information written about his journey but I am interested in finding out about two others who travelled with him or new him. One was Private F. Ford whom he met up with in Paris and the the other was E.C. Young.

If anyone has any information I would be very pleased to hear from them.

In the photo Bill is on the left.

He probably went on the run around the 7th June 1940 when the battalion was fighting tanks at Aumale. Most of the battalion was either killed or captured. I've got a missing man's medals from the battalion who I've been researching on and off for a few years. He was killed on the 7th June.

Thank you but I already have this. I also have a lot of correspondence about him and from him during his travels.

Thanks, that's interesting. I know he was north or Rouen when he got cut off.

I have a letter that makes it pretty clear that Ford (very likely F Ford) also made it back to the UK while travelling with Bill. The information about Ford will prove useful as he will have had to make a report to MI9
