Frank My late brother, Sgt.(Air Gunner) Jacob Goldstein 2235812, 166 Sqdrn, is buried at Durnbach. I, and other members of our family have previously visited the cemetery so I have many photos of his grave-site but I do thank you for your kind offer to supply photos to others who cannot get to the site.. The cemetery is beautifully attended to and I have personally written to the CWGC to commend them on their choice of staff. My very best regards Ron
Thank you Frank its very much appreciated Just a piece of interesting background on one of those DLI casualties;- Edward Lough Dees born 1915 attended the Royal Grammar School in Newcastle he left in 1931 and later became a Company Secretary, He enlisted into the TA and served as a Trooper in the Northumberland Hussars (Yeomanry). Later commissioned into The DLI ,8th battalion in 1939 (London Gazette 30th May 1939) .He was married at St Johns Church Sheriffs Hill, Gateshead on Saturday 25th November 1939 to Miss Muriel Elder , Edward was the youngest son of Mr,Mrs J A Dees of Beaconsfield Avenue,Low Fell, Gateshead 88963 Lieut Dees was captured in France in 1940 . Dees had evaded capture at Walrus, and escaped from the village but was taken prisoner days later whilst fighting with a mixed force at GHQ near Hazebrouck. He was shot dead (murdered) by a German Guard whilst sitting at the window of his hut in Oflag VII C on the 25 January 1941 Kyle
