Headstone spotted at Sheffield (Tinsley Park) Cemetery for Dvr Donald Crossley, Royal Pioneer Corps, who died on 29 October 1946, age 22. Not listed on CWGC, burial register merely gives his occupation as "labourer". 1939 Register not particuarly relevant as he would have been too young.

DC says he was a furniture remover living at 86 Brown Street, Sheffield, and makes no mention of military service. Cause of death was pulmonary tuberculosis.

His name caught my eye, checking through one of my books I found this story. A couple of years ago I discovered that this Donald Crossley was NOT killed as stated ! He survived the war :)

I now have a copy of his service record, which indicates that tuberculosis was aggravated by service. In From The Cold will put his case forward.
