    Hi Peter.

Do you have his Service Records, and are you willing to show them?

    Edit.. It would help.
    Regards
    Stu.

I've been trawling through the grave registration cards for the DWR buried in Anzio Beach Head WC and have found the following (See below).

All the burials except the first and last are for men who died on 22 May or 10 June. One of the 22 May casualties is from the DWR. unknown same row as Davies.JPG

The unknown without a date or regiment could well be Pte. Osgood.

Thankyou for your wisdom Gary. This makes entire sense to me now. Having looked up his brother (died in Africa) I can see concentration forms on the CWGC for him which indicate specifics of previous burial and imagine if there was something like that in this instance it would probably prove invaluable! Nothings ever simple is it!

    Hi Stu,
I didnt bother with the records because of the time frames involved but I can see there being probable benefit to sending off for these now!

Hi Vitellino thankyou for spotting this! After Garys words of wisdom I fell asleep doing exactly the same this last night! I found a couple myself but yours seems to have a higher concentration of related tps either side (im including the 2nd foresters on the same date as likely casualties from the right flank of the operation)

Without wanting to be cheeky and take too much of your time Gary, reference your original casualty list and the war diary entry ill post below…Would you know of it to be common (or even possible) that since there are 3 casualties missing all wounded, 2 believed died. For these to be entered on the casualty list you have despite their fate being unknown or them being retrieved at that point? hopefully that makes sense. I just wanted to rule out obvious suspicion I have which may be based on impossibility if thats not how the casualty lists were done! B85EEF3B-7C52-4AC3-A1EA-4C32AF1BABB2.jpeg

    Peter,

Contact CWGC and ask where the un-named casualties on the Graves Registration Form I have posted above were concentrated from. My contact who has in the past given me a wealth of information has recently retired, otherwise I would have already got the answer for you.
