ANNIVERSARY To-day 23rd October is the 68th anniversary of the start of the third and last Battle of El Alamein- and we should pause to remember the 13,000 Commonwealth troops who are still there after giving their lives in this the turning point battle of WW2. we will remember them
As Churchill so aptly put it: "Before Alamein we never had a victory, after Alamein we never had a defeat." Lest we forget the cost of that victory ! Ron
Lest We Forget Paul My great Uncle Trooper Kenneth Murray Moffat was in 3rd Recce Battalion 1st Division and was killed in action during Operation Crusader 23/11/1941. I have only found this out a month ago. My Grandfather escaped during the battle of Tobruk 1942 have only received a photo of him and his crowd that escaped from the Germans. To me they were all heroes!!!! Lest we forget!!!
Well I am expecting three more calves before November 4th, so there is bound to be a Supercharge in there somewhere.
We will remember them On this day, 75 years ago, my fathers unit, the 94th HAA Regiment, were moving from RAF Amirya, where they had been since August, to El Kanabish, some 35 miles east of El Alamein. His unit crossed the 'start line' at El Alamein on 5th November 1942, heading for El Daba. Gus
