What is your favorite tank of WWII, I'd choose the Sherman (Probably the Ronson) but very vulnerable to Panzerfausts and Panzershrecks, Tigers and other German tanks.

I disagree. I think the Sherman was less probably slightly vulnrable to RPG, due to its decent speed and mobility.

if you look at the performance of your German RPGs they are able to knock out every WW2 erea tank, amrour thikness is irrelevent.

    quote:

The Panzerschreck was an effective weapon. Early bazookas had problems with the 100 mm armor present on German tanks, most notably the Tiger tank. By comparison the Panzerschreck rocket could penetrate over 200 mm of armor, such as that found on heavy Soviet tanks such as the IS-2 [1],

I voted the Sherman, but only because the M18 Hellcat isn't listed.

What on earth is a 'Sherman Ronson' as distinct from a Sherman M4, m4a1, or m4ae3 (e3 ?????)
    Where is the Valentine?
    Why only the Churchill IV?
    Chaffee?
    Comet?
    Stuart?
    Mk.VI?
    etc.
And if SU-76 is in there then you need every other non-turreted vehicle.

 Grumpy enough for you? :)

Make a list Arlo, a proper one, and I could alter the poll for you, it'd have to be a very long list though. ;)
    Cheers,
    Adam.

Do you mean Sherman Firefly Arlo? (Sherman IC, Sherman IC Hybrid or Sherman VC in British parlance.)

My favourite is the M4A2 or Sherman III to give it it's British designation.

M7 Priest is not a tank but a self-propelled gun.
Centurions didn't make it into combat in time for WW2.
    A38 Valiant project was shelved.

But is was a a product of WW2. After years of making multidues of different models with indifferent performance, they leanrt their lesson ,ditched competing projects and put the resourses into a single task. And it worked. Very much part of WW2.

    what'dyer think?

Ah, the Valiant... I believe the information board at Bovington has "Possibly the worst tank of World War 2", or words to that effect.
Polls don't really work for this kind of 'favourite' chatter do they? Just allowing people to state their preference seems best.

This week, I am mostly fond of the Matilda 2.
Next week I shall probably be back to Churchills.
And then there's always a nice Homely Sherman to return to ;).

Now you are just taking the piss, aren't you Adam? I reckon the basic definition will work for WW2 period tanks.

I would say yes. A very strange one at that, but a tank all the same. :)

Was the 'turret' of the Bishop fully enclosed and armoured, like the KV II?
