Truly amazed to see even this thread has turned into a Rifle Brigade discussion. Not my fault this time, but do feel free to have a look at my website: Home - 8th Rifle Brigade

And now, shall we get back to the original topic? Who's got any other treasures to share? :smug:

  3. I know your website very well buddy, I spend most of my time there I have spoken to you previously, it was about your Rifle Drill manual, I have now managed to get my own one however its the 1st edition produced in 1926. I have a WW2 Rifle Brigade Living History Group called the Black Button B'stards.....

I was very lucky to be able to buy this Leicestershire Regiment group from a friendly antique dealer recently. Sadly, the original owner's name has been lost but he is said to have come from the Walsall area. I have not been able to identify the significance of the two red and white cloth strips.

In which case the red and white must refer to the 36th (Indian) Infantry Division formation signs. The 2nd battalion Leicestershire Regiment transferred to them after the Chindits disbanded.

They look like Japanese Army Warrant Officer's collar insignia, as they are shaped. So possibly a war souvenir?

Further my earlier post, here we are. I hope to use most of these in the medal display. I’m not sure grandad ever wore the 8th Army patch, but he was in 8th Army in Italy, so it would be my tribute to that part of his service.

I know from his records that he qualified as Driver IC, hence that badge - again I don’t know if he ever wore one on his sleeve, but it might be nice to add it too.
