Posting this twice to give it a bit more coverage.

On November 16 this year I shall be visiting the Westminster Abbey Field of Remembrance where an AJEX marker is being planted in memory of my late brother Jack, who was an air gunner in Bomber Command and died over Nuremburg on 16th March 1945.

If anyone wants a photo of a relative's marker or any particular unit, leave full details on this thread and I will do my best to oblige.

Ron, I think it us wonderful that your brother will be remembered in this way, and that you are still able to attend such events and offer to help others.

Thanks for your comment, but I have often been on the receiving end myself, so it is no big deal.

    Best regards

Do you know if there is a marker for the WAAF, Ron? If so, could you post a photograph of it please?

This is a new experience for me, so, apart from looking at an obvious link:
Westminster Abbey Field of Remembrance I am not very clued up.

Found a bit more here: Field of Remembrance - The Poppy Factory

Could I ask you to do some research for me and return to this thread with the answer ?

In my own case, AJEX posted a letter in the Jewish Chronicle drawing attention to the event and inviting those who had lost relatives in WW2 to get in touch.

If you can't find any more info by the 16th don't worry, I shall just enquire on site.

    Best regards

    Ron

I tried to dedicate a tribute (online) to a relative who died in WW2 who served in the WAAF (Elizabeth Cowan).

The computer process requires to fill in a box for Regiment / Service, which for the Air Force gives the options of Royal Air Force, Air Gunners Association, Bomber Command or Princess Mary's Royal Air Force Nursing Association (no Women's Auxiliary Air Force section). So as I am not going to be able to get there in person I've decided not to bother with it. I have already visited Elizabeth's grave which is in a cemetery near where I live and placed a poppy cross and flowers on there. As there is a separate Bomber Command section, Ron, you will be able to place the family tribute for your brother in that section.

(The wartime WAAF reformed into the WRAF in 1949 and fully integrated into the RAF in 1994)
