On the coach home from Italy last night there was a Veteran on board and I had a quick chat with him. This is the information I quickly wrote down whilst he was talking (apologies if in my haste jotting down the info I have got part of it wrong), but I couldn't miss an opportunity to talk to him His name was Ken Beard and he said he was a rear gunner in Halifax bombers, part of 10 Squadron at RAF Melbourne, aged 93. He said he was at Nuremburg where they lost 94 planes, with 7 crew in each Halifax. Flew twice on D Day Bombed Berlin 7 times Did over 30 raids. I would be interested if any member can add further info or correct the above if I have got part of it wrong . Lesley

Found this which confirms! http://www.pprune.org/archive/index.php/t-410792.html By the dates this would seem to be him: Births Dec 1921 (>99%) Beard Kenneth A Baker Steyning 2b 413 We do have a member arnhem on this forum however that would be too easy!
rapier MELBOURNE TEN quality of illustrations leaves a great deal to be desired my information about beard's flying career came from GORDON'S TOUR WITH SHINY 10 p121
