Not that it helps much in this instance but Troop Deployment gives the loading for 18 Division deployment to the Far East. The various Regiments seem to travel complete.

    Good evening everyone.

It seems that my Dad left the UK in the company of 52 Bde. He departed on or about 19 January and arrived North Africa 1 February1943. I have been given to understand that my late father's ship "Empire Pride" was a 9,248- GRT Troopship and was built by Barclay, Curle and Co, Ltd, Glasgow and specifically built for the purposes as Troopship loaned to the Government of the day by the owners.
I had been given the name "Empire Prince" but the details I have do not match the information I have managed to obtain from the Company.

Meanwhile, FRANK THOMAS, my late father's Regiment was 110/39 LAA Bty, Royal Artillery and in my Dad's Service Records and the War Diaries, the 111/39 LAA Bty RA worked together so I am wondering if there are any photographs - I do have some of varying groups .

    Hello TD,
Thank you for confirming what I had already researched - so pleased I now have some positive news. All I need to do now is try to find out which Bty he was in (ABCD etc.) His Service Records and the War Diaries are very sparse:)

I have started researching my Uncle Sgt. Albert Jennings's military service. He too, was in the 100th Battery (B Troop) of 39th LAA and as you can see from the attached berthing pass he was on RMS Samaria which docked in Algiers on 1st February 1943 (RMS Empire Pride was part of the same convoy and docked at Bone further up the coast). I believe that the whole regiment travelled together on Samaria (she carried 2,200 passengers before being converted to a troop ship when she would have carried 3-4,000). I would be very interested in any information you have on the 110th (especially War Diaries of which I have some kindly provided by Hutt on this forum) which you might be willing to share. I have messaged you.
    Best Regards
    Paul
