Adam there was a doc on Sky a while back when they filmed one being recovered from a lake or marsh and all the stages of it being returned to its former glory.

I think it was an American team doing all the work etc.

I recall seeing ( somehwere on the net) a small photo of her in Paris, to come face to face with her beside thier immaculately restored Panther came as a bit of a surprise.
Thanks for the notes on her wartime service - good info which is new to me. :)

They 'gave' one Panther to a British collector a year or two ago.

    Adam,

That sounds like a interesting story. Do you have any further details?
I cannot think that there are many instances where someone has been given a Panther!

    Regards
    Tom

The Cadman Brothers (noted Kent Owner/Restorers and organisers of Beltring) display an ausf.A said to have been gifted by Saumur. With the stratospheric value of such German armour I'd imagine we can safely assume that some sort of service or 'swapsies' was done in return.
It's pretty complete, though the suspension is rusted solid enough to leave wheels off the ground when parked - estimated value c.£500000 - estimated restoration cost (according to one chap that worked on it)would likely be c.£500000+

Pics from the Beltring 2007 thread:

Gents it has to be said , some great info popping up in this thread.;)

To make a Panther's suspension come unstuck from rust and to get her up and running - £500,000 (plus) buys a lot of "airfix".
Obtaining (or more likely fabricating) the parts would be a journey of discovery which would make a huge hole in that projected sum.
I have harvested a number of good links and info - good one gents :)

    Thank you.

Thanks to Rich & Chad bringing up the new Life Archive, here's a nice pic of some 88 Derivatives in Spanish service at Carabanchel in 1949:

And in a similar vein, some Mark IV's still being kept in pristine fighting order in '48

    A few Off-Toppic: Argentinian 88s

In one of my forums I'm registered, a shipmate share with us more photos http://www.1y2gm.com/artilleria-f49/flack-88-t445-10.htm#14028
Hello everybody, I leave with you the photos of a 88, who is in the Naval Museum of the nation here in Argentina, specifically in the town of Tigre, where I was born, I know that is not much, but considering that this side of the world spent nearly overlooked the two Great Wars worldwide, I hope you like it.

Saw this Spanish example at Deadmans Corner last June.

The gent in the phot is my friend Peter from Antwerp , he is one of Europes leading optical experts - a heck of a good guy.

Ah....! In my country, Spain, more times these guns, specially the implicated in A/A roles -double mountings- are more times knew as "The 8·8"

France produced the Fiesler Storch post war, it was used both in the Vietnam and Algerian conflicts

Yes they did, they carried production on with a different engine from the original Argus and the result was the (ugly) Morane Saulnier MS 505 Criquet.
