Was 'Operation Lancing' the mission on Dieppe involving mainly Canadian's and immortalised in the book 'Green Beach' which tells the tale of an RAF radar expert called Jack Nissenthal who was sent to recover vital parts of the German FREYA radar systems (I think that is the correct name) on the basis that he either returned alive or was to be killed by his Canadian escorts if his capture were imminent. In that tale reference is made to Norris Castle as the ops HQ which obviously for me having a local flavour is of even greater interest.

Patrick Barnwell was my uncle. Only found out about him a few years back just before my mother passed away. She told me the story of how he died. He had only been married a short while, so no one ever knew what became of Gertrude his young bride. May all who lost their lives Rest In Peace.
