I braved the -12oC this lunchtime and placed my Dragon 1/6 scale Kubelwagen in the garden which still has a covering of snow. After a few minutes my fingers were almost numb so I was very fast taking the photographs and the whole shoot took less than 5 minutes, but the pictures provide an idea of what effect I was trying to achieve. Deep water wading gear intake air in through the front one exhaust out through the back one. Fitted when tanks had to wade ashore from landing craft
I'm a bit ignorant of tanks. What's with the airconditioning ducts? Kevin, Air conditioning . The only air conditioning was when the crew opened the hatches. They either froze or were too hot, with lots of foul air when firing. All this and then having to face 88's etc. Admiration to the likes of Tom Canning and other Tank Veterans. Regards Tom
Tom, please don't put the words M4 and Canning together in the same post, it's bad for your health And a nice looking Sherman that is! Welcome Neil!
Finished this one a while back, a Minicraft 1/72 B-24 Liberator. In the 'colours' of the 486th Bomb Group. In this case, Gemini of the 834th Bomb Squadron "The Zodiacs".
That's a beauty. I never saw an OD one with the nose turret before. Looks great. They always look less 'WWII-ish' to me when they're plain aluminum. Dave
Here's a pic of the original, but taken much later in the war. By this time it was serving with the 15th AAF in the MTO (486th converted to B-17s), and as you can see was well beaten. A lot of patches and odd paintwork. They kept the original nose art though.
