    Hi JJS,

All I can add is that he was 2nd pilot to a SSgt P Waring who survived Arnhem. His tug came from 298 Sqn, the tug pilot was Sqn Ldr Stark. His load comprised 4 troops and 44 350 lb panniers. His was one of four gliders to land on LZ P for 53 Lt Regt RA.

If you are posting about Jim Sharrock then I am extremely confused by your source of information. From the 298 Squadron Records at the National Archives the Glider Raid report in the ORB shows that Jim and S/Sgt Waring were in a Hamilcar (Chalk 320) which landed safely on LZ Z. They were towed by a Halifax piloted by Squadron Leader Imber and their load was a 17 pounder gun.
From your username do you represent the Museum of Army Flying (MAF) at Middle Wallop? If so I would be very interested to hear if they hold any additional information about this person.

Thank you for this Horsapassenger, I was very confused  and mightily relived to see your response. ;)

A bit late I know, but Happy New Year to all.

    Regards,
    JJS.

53rd ( Worcestershire Yeomanry ) Airlanding Light Regiment RA were 6th Airborne Division. Your information is in part correct for Operation Varsity.
