    Hello,

I'm very interested in the operational level of warfare especially regarding the pacific war and the island to island doctrine. I am currently studying how the doctrine develops over the years. However I have had trouble finding good litterature that describes the operational level. It always seems to end up at strategic level or on a tactical level. i assume that their is some war diaries on the higher levels. Does anyone know of some good meterial?

    best regards

Whatever you do it will be insignificant,
but it is important that you do it anyway.

If its nuts and bolts you want, and you are interested in the PNG battles involving the Australians (and at times Americans), I would suggest A Bastard of a Place by Peter Brune.
