Hello one and all. May I first say that I am very pleased to have found this forum, and I hope to be able to add and receive some helpful info. My interest stems from my Grandfather, Corporal Robert Woods 13023744, and his time served in the A.C.C. attached to the 11th Hussars in North Africa and Italy from 1942. I am trying to plot his movements but am in the early stages and finding it hard to locate relevant info. I know very little about him, he died in the 80's, when I was about 8 having never spoken about his time served. Myself and my good lady are putting together a 3 month expedition next year to retrace the steps of his unit (when I find it) right across the North African route, then coming back through Italy. We are keen to find info on places that he would have occupied, sights he'd have seen, etc. The aim is to document the trip with video and photo's, creating a visual retracing of the journey that will then be posted on the net for all to see. I work as a cover teacher in a senior school here in South West Somerset, and I have noticed that very few people know about the Africa Campaign, it is not taught or reflected upon atall in the school cillibus. I would like to make an effort to change this. As well as masses of fundraising we need to do, I am hoping to find a brave and generous soul that may have a vehicle of the period that we could use for the journey. Any offers of help will be unimaginably hugely appreciated. Comments, tips, and any info about the forthcoming adventure, and about the ACC (11th hussars) will also be of great help, and received with thanks. I hope to be able to chip in with some info of my own at times for others benefit. Thanks all! Ben
