    Hello to all,
Any further information anyone may have on my Grandfather concerning his time in the RA during WW2 would be very much appreciated.

    Reginald A V Manning ( 908483 )
58/229 Med Btty RA TA May 1939 - May 1940
3rd Res Med Regt RA May 1940 - May 1941
11th Fld Rgt RA May 1941.
( left Meerut 31/7/41, embarked Bombay 1/8/41, disembarked Basrah 9/8/41)
    Captured W D Egypt late June 1942.
POW IN camps PG65 and PG53 Italy
Escaped and appears in Southern Italy in Allied hands, November 1943.

That is as much as I can get from his service file.
Unfortunately he passed away many years ago and would love to know more detail on anything above.
    Thanks everyone.

Could anyone help with any details of the location and circumstances, of the 11th Field Regt RA in North Africa, possibly Western Desert Egypt in June/July, 1942.

My Grandfather, Reginald A V Manning was captured and sent to Italy as a POW.

I'm now in Australia and therefore limited to the internet for research but would be very grateful for any information.

Just a quick add on, I believe it may have been the 83/85 Btty.

11th Field Regiment was in Iraq as part of 8th Indian Division between 2 August 1941 and 15 June 1942. Then:

On 15 June 1942, the regiment was transferred from Iraq to the Western Desert and covered the 1500 miles in 11 days. This unit was also involved in a delaying action and helped halt the German attack on 2 July at Ruweisat Ridge.
According to this, regiment arrived in the Western Desert around 26 June, and as your grandfather was captured in that month, he was maybe captured during the battle at Mersa Matruh or maybe somewhere between that place and El Alamein. First Battle at Alamein started on 1 July so he was captured before that.

Thanks very much for all your help.
My apologies for the repeated posts, I thought I was putting them on different forums, still learning I guess.
Sorry again, I must seem very impatient.
