I'm trying to research my grandfather's service in ww2. His name was James Howell bankston and also went by the nickname "penny." He served in North Africa and I think he was the rank of private. If anyone has any info it would be such a great help. Thanks everyone and God bless

You are already ahead of the game by knowing his name- next thing you have to do is to call the Records Office in Glasgow to apply for his service records

which will give you most of what you need- someone is sure to be along with -the address- when you eventually get his records -THEN come back here for more

    help

    cheers

Hello and welcome to the forum.
Do you know which unit your grandfather served in? Any photos of him at all?
