    Dear all
I posted something about this quite some time ago but I am still attempting to put together a Nominal Roll of Australians who served in the Greek and Cretan Campaigns of 1941. The research will produce an annotated roll with any/all refs. to a particular person including state libraries and any information offered from family members etc. Gavin Long, the official historian, provides a figure of 17,125 for Army personnel (no source given although a cryptic pencilled note of Long's held in AWM points to Percy Spender - Minister for the Army). Have confirmed approx. 12,500 from unit war dairies, personal diaries, letters, photos, secondary sources etc. Service records held by the NAA, the B103s, often have chronological gaps as the original 3 copies (travelling, unit & base) were not reconciled. Have thus far been unable to locate any embarkation lists of the AG or AN convoys from Alexandria or anything related to Movement control there. Any assistance/suggestions/names/sources greatly appreciated. I do realise I will never be able to gather all names such as those Australians who served in British units or RAN who served on RN ships but I would hope to get this as near complete as possible for next year's 80th anniversary. To one and all thanks in advance and Merry Christmas. Regards Michael

    Hi,

Iā€™m reading Brian Culls - Blenheims over Greece and Crete at the moment. Two Australians are listed in the losses section at the back, Flt Lt D G Boehm 84sq killed 1st April ā€˜41 in an accident. Flt Lt J C Whittall 203sq shot down and killed by a Bf110 27th April ā€˜41 over Crete.

Edit: Sgt Norman Wilson RAAF is also mentioned in the main text. Shot down and killed 25th May '41.

Hi Markyboy Thanks so much for taking the time and sending me along the information. will note these down and add the reference. Greatly appreciated. Casualties, POWs and officers are usually much better recorded whereas the ORs are just grouped as number except when up on charges. Will keep the forum updated on progress. Regards Michael
