Just wanted to share this photo today my late father's birthday
MNBDO1 group with gun (what gun is this?)

No caption on the back of this one, so I have no idea where it was taken
My father is the Royal Marine gunner second from left

    Hi,
A bit late in answering your question about the photo.

It may have been taken sometime in 1944/45.

It looks like he could have been serving in one of the heavy anti-aircraft batteries of the 5th Royal Marine Anti-Aircraft Brigade.

Formed March 1944. Deployed along the south coast of England during July and August 1944. Moved to France in September taking over the anti-aircraft defence of the Scheldt Estuary in late 1944. In March 1945 it moved to the Ostend and Calais area.

The RM Blue Beret was worn from late 1943 so taken after this date.

    Regards

    Danny
