Thanks for that Adam, looks very interesting.
Guy Martin gets about quite a bit too, Isle of Man TT, road racing and restoring narrowboats

I enjoyed the programme but a few things spring to mind:

In a total restoration such as this how much (if anything) of the original aircraft is re-used? Total airframe replacement.

I like guy Martin and know his background as a truck mechanic and motor bike road racer. He is a 'hands on' kind of guy and I believe he did really did participate in some small aspects of the restoration but the real heroes are the crew at Duxford. Cudos to Martin for having being involved in some way for 2 years or so.

Who bought the wreckage and (presumably now) owns the restored aircraft?

Will it stay in this country?

Why play about with .50 Cal guns when the Mk1 was fitted with .303 Brownings?

Anyway, good docu and nice to see another Spit flying again.

I enjoyed it, pretty interesting to see the damage to the car too.

We were at Duxford a few weeks ago and saw a Spitfire veteran go up in the 2 seater. There was a big camera crew there and we thought maybe it would be a segment in this programme. Will have to find out what it was for now.

I thought it was OK...As anyone who was reading my posts on Facebook will testify. Ps Calais is not Dunkirk so don't mention Dunkirk when you mean Calais. :p

Reasonable program, as with our members I did not see much original going into the plane. Also wondered if it may have had a 2 blade propeller instead of the 3 at that time of the war.

It all comes under the generic term "Dunkirk" in their eyes

I know...I'm guilty of doing the same sometimes for simplicity, again I had to remind someone today that Dunkirk and D-Day were two separate things four years apart. I'm not a Spitfire expert but I think they had three props, two was pre war I think. Here's a couple of pics I posted on FB from one of my books.

    "It's got parking sensors!"

    Nice little programme.
    I still like Guy Martin.
That is not the aircraft that crashed on that beach, but it is still a very very very pleasant flying machine.

Someone needs to find a meatier project for Martin, in between TTs.
Sadly, C4's lighter documentary output is so light it'll blow away some day.
He should be building a hovercraft from scratch, making rocket-powered bicycles using domestic waste & old hoovers, etc.. Things like that.

I sort of suspect that an hour of him getting over-excited with his own Merlin might have been more... fun.

Oh, and I'm sorry, but 'Dunkirk' is fine really, isn't it.
It has become the name for that entire retreat campaign, like it or not.

Just watched the programme and really enjoyed it.
I like Guy Martin too-love the stuff he comes out with and a very clever chap.
Just wish he would stop repeating everything he says, I said I wish he would stop repeating everything he says
