CL1 - He appears to be buried with someone else - if I read it correctly then it says at the bottom something like " In loving Memory of Harold............................" but I can't read the rest of it. I am trying to find something to latch onto, a first name, etc. Maybe one of our ossie colleagues could find out something from the records?? TD

Could be this one It says March but the file is from Jan,Feb to March. Name: Harold S R Hopkins Birth Date: abt 1898 Date of Registration: Mar 1954 Age at Death: 56 Registration district: Surrey South eastern Inferred County: Surrey Volume: 5g Page: 959
I did see that one but thought Surrey is quite a way from East Ham, so couldn't really connect the two? TD edited to add: Perhaps some info from Oz may help decipher things
Following on from TD's post - go to www.naa.gov.au and use the search function for Hopkins 2965 His file has been digitised and should be available to be read online. It shows that he was returned to Australia and invalided out of the army in 1916 due to a heart problem - he did well to make it to 1954 I can't see any clues as to how he ended up in England - must have emigrated there FYI - Details
