Ahhhh, how I miss my days in Ireland! Maybe next year I´ll be able to find the time to rent a car there and run the B&Bs circuit :)

An Irishman walks into a pub. The bartender asks him, "what'll you have?" The man says, "Give me three pints of Guinness please."
So the bartender brings him three pints and the man proceeds to alternately sip one, then the other, then the third until they're gone. He then orders three more.
The bartender says, "Sir, I know you like them cold. You don't have to order three at a time. I can keep an eye on it and when you get low I'll bring you a fresh cold one."
The man says, "You don't understand. I have two brothers, one in Australia and one in the States. We made a vow to each other that every Saturday night we'd still drink together. So right now, my brothers have three Guinness Stouts too, and we're drinking together.
The bartender thought that was a wonderful tradition.
Every week the man came in and ordered three beers. Then one week he came in and ordered only two. He drank them and then ordered two more.
The bartender said to him, "I know what your tradition is, and I'd just like to say that I'm sorry that one of your brothers died."
The man said, "Oh, me brothers are fine - I just quit drinking."

Just got in, lads. Gorgeous day, here in Eire. The parade'll be kicking off in my local town presently, under blue skies and glorious sunshine. Just the ticket :)

Have a great day boys and girls.

The Irish Guards marched through Windsor this morning but it was at 0730 hrs so as not to disrupt the morning rush hour.

Happy Paddy's day to all - I'm sitting here having a coffee out of an Irish mug which has apicture of a typical cottage on the lake and surrounded by hills - and a verse which reads

Cream - rich as an Irish brogue

Coffee - strong as a friendly hand

Sugar - sweet as the tongue of a rogue

Irsih Whiskey - smooth as the wit of the Land ......

Which always reminds me of the Old Irish Parish Priest in Ottawa who was dying..so he calls the Prime Minister and his deputy to sit with him - both Catholics - who sit each side of his bed...and the Prime Minister asks " why did you want us here"

to which the old man replies - " I want to die like Christ - between two thieves "

    Cheers

I wondered why the Oirish used the shamrock, wiki says this.

According to legend, Saint Patrick used the shamrock, a three-leaved plant, to explain the Holy Trinity to the pre-Christian Irish people.
