So, if this report is right and Alexa is laughing at will, do you think we should be worried? Amazon promises fix for creepy Alexa laugh - Amazon promises fix for creepy Alexa laugh
We have Alexa TV ads running here where the user verbally offers thanks to Alexa after the device performs several functions. It's insidious. I feel like I should now be thanking my coffee maker every morning.
Bought a Google mini yesterday since the price dropped below forty quid, willingly inviting god knows what into the kitchen. It's hilarious, and a remarkably good quality speaker given the size. It will mostly sit there being a radio and marking cooking times, but has already found my phone & assisted with my crap maths. A strange thing, but I suspect we'll all be talking to boxes eventually.
More than aware of it. I make my deal with the Google devil with my eyes wide open. They give me maps and a wide variety of surprisingly handy or high quality toys, and in return they get to know what dull shopping I do and just how much I swear in the kitchen, all under a ridiculous username. I would not make this deal with some other companies. They do not give me good stuff in return. We're all on the web. It is not a private place & never has been, unless you're prepared to go to some lengths to properly cover your trail. It's actually funny listening to Google Audio search history before deleting it. Remarkably banal. My sister has toddlers, though. Evil toddlers. Suspect listening to what they ask the box when you're not there will be hilarious.
I often thank Alexa for doing stuff! My husband ridiculed me for it but I notice he's saying please and thank you now! I read a report that as we have more of these sorts of devices in our home, we may forget our manners and subsequently we may then forget our manners when we ask real people to do things for us...
Ask Alexa if she is Skynet It does sometimes wake without a prompt from me and spatter forth drivel ( look at the owner I say ) however "scaring people" they need to get a grip Dont forget
I read that incorrectly to start with, and thought that your daughter's Alexa ridiculed you for using your dictionary and atlas. I wasn't sure what to think, but thought perhaps it was a bit much to be ridiculed by a machine.
If they each have an Alexa, then I'm sure it won't be long before these machines are laughing at me too.
Free phone calls from Google home has surprised me. Tested it to sprogs' mobiles and all good. Wonder if that's a sustainable feature.
I've just bought an Amazon Echo Dot (for £39.99) and frankly I think it's the best thing, for me, anyway, since cut bread Since setting it up I've been trying virtually every command under the sun and it rarely disappoints. One of the spookiest things I've been able to do is to get it to read out to me ANY of the many books I have in my Kindle library. I also love its ability to set multiple alarms to remind me of things during the day. By the way, I just told it to "play LBC" and that's what it's doing right now ! Don't you just love these new gadgets ? Ron
