Awww come on chaps. You all started off so well and for all the right reasons. You are all well respected members of this forum and in my opinion are on here for all the right reasons. Don't fall out over what someone else has posted on another site after you all worked so well together to uncover so much.

The sensible move would be to draw a line and get back together and decide on the best way forward for the families of those that are being remembered and get those to on the other site to correct the error of their ways.

Personally I like to think I know you all reasonably well and would share a coffee and a digestive with any of you at Kew - Come on guys, life's too short and you all work so much better together than alone, get back to what you all do best and a open offer from me on this subject if you all get back on track I'm happy to copy anything related to this for free at Kew if it will help.

Since member Dave 'alien ayes' posted his acerbic comments on here in post 51 I've asked the moderators to look at the post and for Dave to mellow his comments.

The moderators have looked at what's written on here but can't find anything offensive. So no action taken on their part. Mods, you could have done more in my opinion.

Dave obviously is not going to alter his comments even though I've asked him twice, which is a shame and irritating since he's basically put a cloud over an otherwise good thread about people trying to achieve a worthy goal.

So thanks a lot Dave. As I said in my PM to you maybe next time just don't get involved.

Not a lot in your profile either I note.

Dave contributed quite a lot of useful information to this thread in the least number of posts, unlike others, who seem to be in a race to see who can add the most posts in a period of time, so no need of your first comment. As for the second comment, is it now such an offence, not to fill out your profile if you don't want to, or are you taking "childishness" to the limit. Sending pm's to people is not helping the matter. Like the others on here, step back and let it rest

Because of the continued interference of one of the members on here the research for this memorial is now continuing on another website.

Owen kindly permitted the thread to be re opened to allow me to put some images on here of the 29th September ceremony.

Having been in contact with Rob Lanting he informs me that the ceremony was a success and well attended.

I think most of the members on this forum will agree that the Dutch as a Nation are very positive and proud to retain the memory of our servicemen who were lost over their country during the Second World War. In this case they have honoured airmen from the U.S.A and Canada as well.

So well done lads for completing a complicated piece of research and honouring this crew.

There is also a link on 'Rootshchat' which shows some of what went on.

    Dear all,

We are pleased to announce that we have found close relatives of
Bertram Scudder. The relatives were happy to hear that we
researched and. honnoured the perticular crew in september 2013, exactly
70 years after it crashed. Also we received a picture of our young hero Bertra Scudder.
It is great to have been able to give a face, a ceremony, a story and a
produced monument for the crew who wore unknown for many but known by many now.

Our search for Bertram and his family has ended on this forum. Thank you all, and especially
Chris Stanfield for helping our team in trying to trace and contact relatives of this aircrew.
Without all of you we could not bring this story and unveiling to such a fantastic finish.

    Yours sincerely,
    Rob Lanting

Rob Lanting has sent me another image of the painting they had commissioned of the crew now with Bertram Scudder added. Today is the anniversary date of the crash.

    Hello all!

Just a quick word from me to you. Inspite the comment of one person, I would like to thank you for all the help the past months! We are still working to get more information about the crewmembers. Recently we got in touch with the family of William Bellinger. They will meet up soon with Sherry (Clarence Hovey's daughter). So a lot of information will be passed on to us soon.

I do want to say one thing about the 'huge' criticism: Our group never intended to be disrespectful to family members and other people. Our goal is to try and get as much information possible so that we can honour those brave men.
We are personally in touch with many family members of the crew, contact that is very personal and respectful. None of them is feeling disrespected by our team. They are all proud that they now know more than just the story of their loved one.

So.. with that in mind I do ask for some help. As you know we live in Holland and some things are just not accesable for us. I am now busy trying to get in touch of the Stuart family. Since we started our research he now is the only one we have little information on. Hopefully we will find out more about him and his family. We would love to tell and show them what we know and have done so far.

And I say it again: Thank you all for helping us! Wish you all a Merry Christmas!

    Regards, Erik Schaddelee

    Hi Erik

There are some family trees on Ancestry and they include some photos:

    Richard Ward Stuart
Birth 23 Feb 1922 in Baltimore, Maryland, USA
Death 24 Mar 2003 in Melbourne, Brevard, Florida, USA

This is the story attached to the public family tree of geoffpain

2nd/Lt Clary and crew FTR on Sept 29th 1943 during a mission to Bochum. Sgt. Scudder and F/O Belllinger were killed, the pilot evaded capture and the remaining four crew were captured as POWs till war end. The Luftwaffe pilot; Hptm E. Prinz (Prince) zur Lippe-Weissenfeld from III/NJG 1 claimed the victory at 21:44 near Enschede. Unfortunately the Luftwaffe prince also claimed victory over the Popplewell crew 24 on this same night. http://www.rcaf434squadron.com/air-crew-photos/434-aircrew-photos-now-total/17745945

One of the family trees has been created by a member of the Stuart family - if you wish I can try and contact them for you - please send me a PM if you want to go ahead.

    Hi ritsonvaljos

I have done several before for PieterF, and it did result in contact between the family and PieterF, I am also still trying to track down someone for member Skip, fortunately I quite enjoy the detective and investigative side of this, unfortunately sometimes the information is just not there.

The information sent to them is such that they are in control and can take it further (or not) if they wish.

To be honest sometimes these are easier to find than some of my own relatives, especially when you start delving back into the 1700's or the 1800's in Ireland - :ewink: :( that can really make your brain hurt, luckily for me I am losing mine

hahaha well.. I've been doing research on crashed planes during WW2 for quite a while now.. and I still am hooked on the 'detective' bit. When you also are able to find the info and get in touch with family members.. that is even more rewarding.

But even I still loose my mind after a day of digging. Somehow you keep on going watching your screen and stay focussed :)
