37 STR were based in Scarbourough during WW2 - any pointers to links or info would be appreciated. Cheers Pete
Royal Artillery? Interesting, i thought I was looking for a signaller from Royal Signals. Any other pointers most appreciated. Pete
Peter, I just checked The Royal Corps of Signals history and Signals training regiments are listed from 1st to 7th - No 37th. In ANOTHER Royal Signals history book it says that 37th Signal Regiment wasn't founded until 1967 in Bristol as 37 (Wessex and Welsh) Signal Regiment.

My father, Andrew Evans, served in 46 Squad, 37th Sig Tng R.A. in 1940. In the photo he is: front row, #5 from the left, next to the Officer.
Regarding the photograph of 46 Squad, 37th Sig. Tng. R.A. posted earlier, I have now located the names of all those featured: Back Row, L to R; Derek Prothero (Gravesend); Pryce Roberts (Birkenhead); Jack Fell (Manchester); Ken Brizell (Liverpool); Frank Littler (St. Helens); Dennis Pinnington (Nantwich); Tom Moss (Manchester). Front Row, L to R: Tom Adamson (Manchester); Alan Bunce (Barrow); Jimmy Byrne (Stoke on Trent); Jack Nicholls (Room Orderly); Andrew Evans (Liverpool); Harry Cave (Liverpool); Gordon Williams (Nantwich); Bill Lewis (Wallasey). The photo is dated 20-10-1940. The guy in the centre, who I took to be an Officer was Jack Nicholls, the Room Orderly. The text written on the photo confirms this squad was 'Royal Artillery'. There is no clue as to where the photo was taken.
