    Hi All,

Sorry if this is in the wrong section but I wasn't sure where to put it but as it's loosely related to family history I thought I'd try here.

I'm trying to recreate my wife's grandfather's uniform for a talk, he was with 712 General Construction Company, Royal Engineers and was evacuated from La Panne during WW2.

I have managed to get a battle dress blouse and in my collection I already have some red cloth Royal Engineers shoulder titles, would they be the correct ones to put on or should I be looking for the brass RE titles or slip on's instead?

I'm also wondering about div patches, I have no idea which div 712 GE Con Coy was part of, can anyone help with that?

    Thanks a lot,

    Michael

If you are planning on depicting him in 1940 then you don't need to worry about formation patches.

    Thanks Owen,

I didn't know that, to be honest I wasn't sure when to do it.

I was thinking if I did it at the end of the war I could put his 4 year service stripes on but the start of his service sounds easier. If I was to go for the end of the war rather than the start would they have needed the formation patches by then?

    Thanks for the help,

    Michael
