From the Official (Service) Nos the P indicates Portsmouth as the Base Port. For Clark the J indicates he was a Seaman and AB is Able Seaman. I also think the number 155694 is on or before 1943. For Allen the K indicates he was a Stoker and LSM is Leading Stoker Mechanic. Again not sure but I think the number 837323 is on or after 1943.

TD have already tried contacting them unless I can produce a death certificate then they cannot release any information I tried getting a death certificate and using that but was rejected as the wrong person there were 6 with the same name but only 1 died over 25 years ago but they won’t confirm which one of the other 5 names was my man as 3 others are approaching 25 years

I was hoping someone may have a number close in their collection or researched a sailor with a known start date

    Hence my query.

AH Allen I have managed to whittle down to a 1929 birth date due to finding a set of medals with original parchment with a number 15 away from my man he had a 1929 birth date which will also tie in being korea. With a 1947 enlistment date

J Clark looks like a 1916-21 birth date but there are too many possibles data based on cwgc site of similar numbers who died and their ages range from 21 years to 25 years depending if signed as a boy or a man

TD thanks I have been using Geoffrey’s site for approx 10 years it’s useful but when trying to get past the MoD you need hard data.

If the RN just release the medal cards then it would solve this problem

MN released theirs years ago and the ww1 cards were at the NA 30 years before the 2014

As it’s 20 years to the start of ww2 they have been a bit slow.

It would also stop unscrupulous sellers adding Medals to otherwise empty boxes

As one of my groups was a 39-45 star Atlantic star and war medal in box of issue with slip confirming 3 Medals

MoD have just sent his papers and he actually received the 39-45 star France and Germany star and war medal.
