Hello, I'm new here and researching my grandfather George Edward Huntley who fought in WW1 with the ASC and then was with the RASC at home from 1939 until he left the services on 7/5/42. I have his service history and the above companies are mentioned in it. He reached the rank of captain.

He was also seconded to 29th Station Transport Coy at Craven Arms for a shirt period.

    Thanks,

    Alan

    Hi Alan

    Welcome

Can I suggest you upload the service record(s) you have for him. - Do you have his service number(s) there are several G E Huntley's in the WW1 database.

Hi, thanks for the quick reply. His WW1 service no was M2/054502 and in WW1 it was P/80355. I will upload the service record I received. I'll do this tonight. It's do exciting to be able to gjnd out his story. Until this year, my mother didn't know the identity of her father so it's overwhelming to know do much now.

He lived to a rope old age of 97.

There appear to be diaries for each of the companies you mention at the National Archives in Kew. If you have the detailed service record and know the periods in each then these are likely to be worth obtaining. You will get a good idea of what they will have been doing (most likely supplying AA regiments with ammunition and supplies). Being at the rank of Captain, there will be a very good chance his name will appear. I'll happily search the specific archive references once the dates are clear. Others, notably Drew5233 can copy these for a modest fee if you are unable to get to Kew in person. Two of the companies were at Brigade level and their diaries might be quite interesting too. If you were particularly interested then it may lead you to the AA Divisional diaries which will give an overview of the AA organisation in the area they operated in and quite likely records of individual AA engagements.

I've scanned in the Service Record - in some cases I needed to do two scans to fit it on the scanner as it was sent to me in A3 format. Thanks for the amazing help so far.
