    Hi,
    I am researching a guy who served with t Recce corps and during his service in France & Germany during 1944/45 he moved quite a bit between units. He was held at some RHU (Reinforcement Holding Unit) but I am interested to know what the other letters/numbers mean -

    1st April 1944 from 101 Reinforcement group to 38 Recce Regt
    9th April 1944 from 38 to 59 Recce regt
    28th August 44 from 59 to X4/21AG
    14th Sep 44 from X4/21AG to 48/RHU/X4/21AG
    12th Oct 44 from 48/RHU/X4/21AG to 43 Recce Regt
    10th April 1945 from 43 Recce to XII/21AG
    22nd may 1945 from XL/21AG to 32/RHU/XIVa/21AG
    17th Jun 1945 back to 43 Recce.

    I would be interested to know if he was wounded during the Normandy Campaign? Any help appreicated,
    Cheers,
    Rick

    21AG is presumably 21st Army Group.

    RHU = Reinforcement Holding Unit
    The X lists are casualty lists I think

    Looks like they didn't know what to do with him as the X(iV) means that he was on transfer- until someone needed him- the X(ii) means the sick list- then back to X(iv)- unlikely he was wounded as reinforcement units were invariably way back - so probably just sick with something

    Cheers
