Help with Unit/Grp id please

    In my grandads service book it's listed that he's in 225 M.U/ 40 Group? (and it states he's in the RAFVR) Can anyone enlighten me cos i have no idea what it means. I'm hoping it might help me work out what he did.

    Ground Equipment Depot
    Groups 30-48_P

    No 40 (Maintenance) Group
    Formed 3 Jan 1939 in Maintenance Command. Responsible for all equipment except bombs and explosives. Disbanded 28 Jul 1961.

    Brilliant Owen, thank you very much. He's listed as a tailor so i guess it's all starting to make more sense now.

    Julieann -
    some of the aircraft were covered in fabric so I guess that tailors were needed to stitch them all together again !!

    I never knew that either. I just assumed they were metal. Thank you.

    ......and some were made of plywood - the aircraft which bombed Taranto harbour in that daring raid in 1941 , were known as string bags !

    Hi I know you posted this a long time ago, but I have just looked at my father's card and it is the same - did you find out anything else - seems like they were in the same group
