In my grandads service book it's listed that he's in 225 M.U/ 40 Group? (and it states he's in the RAFVR) Can anyone enlighten me cos i have no idea what it means. I'm hoping it might help me work out what he did. Many many thanks all.
No 225 Maintenance Unit, Warminster. Ground Equipment Depot Groups 30-48_P No 40 (Maintenance) Group Formed 3 Jan 1939 in Maintenance Command. Responsible for all equipment except bombs and explosives. Disbanded 28 Jul 1961.
Brilliant Owen, thank you very much. He's listed as a tailor so i guess it's all starting to make more sense now.
Julieann - some of the aircraft were covered in fabric so I guess that tailors were needed to stitch them all together again !! Cheers
Julieann ......and some were made of plywood - the aircraft which bombed Taranto harbour in that daring raid in 1941 , were known as string bags ! Cheers
Hi I know you posted this a long time ago, but I have just looked at my father's card and it is the same - did you find out anything else - seems like they were in the same group
