I apologize for my ambiguous post. I know how Albert died. I was trying to disparage the newsreader. I figured someone paid a huge amount of money to cover a royal event should have some knowledge of their history. I just checked and her 2022 salary is $6 million. She was very animated and said he dropped dead in front of her immediately after being stung. I did a Tsar Nicholas and shouted, 'WHAT?'
Regarding the BBMF flight and understandably Poland is happy: From Twitter by Polish Heritage Flight @FlightPolish We, the British, have our differences with France; try watching Platinum Jubilee: French President Emmanuel Macron pays tribute to The Queen (2m): Followed by a wartime reminder we have stood together at a poignant ceremony Macron rekindles flame of the unknown soldier to mark Queen Elizabeth II's historic jubilee (1m):'God save the Queen' played at Paris Jubilee celebration
Best musical performance in the Platinum Concert was by the Queen herself hitting a teacup and saucer with a teaspoon, accompanied by a version of Paddington Bear high on lapsang souchong. There was a woman who sang "What a Wonderful World" without singing any of the proper tune. The teapot may be real. Wonderfully weird stuff.
Hi John, I totally agree with you about the Queen's musical performance, very cleverly done. I found most of the concert boring, and whoever thought it was a good idea to have Rod Stewart and Duran Duran on stage they should get a new job . Terrible choice. (Just my opinion ) Lesley
Lesley, I agree entirely. Prince George's reaction to the "entertainment" summed it up. He was not amused ! John
I always found that the two worlds collide, "popular" entertainment and formal. I will never forget the old git who taught me to play piano aged six to eleven, standing behind me wearing his cap and gown, with a rolled up music book ready to swipe me round the head at the earliest opportunity. Sit up keep your fingers in position! Having played bass guitar in a number of Rock and Blues Bands and Tuba in a St John Band. (once in London to celebrate The Queens Silver Jubilee). Its quite a walk around the park with a bflat Tuba and Horse Guards is vey hot and dusty, like visiting a brickworks! I am very much aware of the differing tastes. In my teens we played at Madresfield Park Malvern to be greeted by a screaming lady complaining that we scared the horses and a bunch of screaming girls wanting us to play the Rollin Stones louder. Nothing like a big gig standing in front of 4x12 Marshall 2 cab stack with a 100 Watt Amp on full throttle or my last Real Amp a 700 Watt Peavey Firebass I thought Rod Stewart was good for his age (77) Queen (Mk3?) looked jaded. Apparently there was much confusion in the ranks of the "Stars" but what do you expect having a mix of formally trained military musicians following a conductor reading it all from paper, alongside innovative natural musicians playing by ear. The Bandmaster at St John used to have a wobbly when I put a few extra extemporised notes in from time to time. Even now at 74 I would have difficulty controlling my urge to take it away Sam! Jack Bruce changed my world, making bass worth playing.
Sadly a lot of the new and fading pop stars require electronic voice enhancements many in the industry are worried to tell their idols that their voices could now bore a hole through concrete Her Majesty though and the other Royals were top notch
Bottom photo: No 8 .22 if I'm not mistaken. We fired them with double aperture sights for competitions, a good few years later. Looks like the SA80 mounted on a fixed line but she was a lot older then, are they Guards in attendance. My eyes are dim, I cannot see.

The Aftermath of this great event rumbles on Yesterday we received a package of hand held flags purchased along with the ones we took down last weekend. I decided to keep them to wave to the Russians should they land here some time in the future, in place of whit tea towels or even paper kitchen towels. Last night I was somnolently browsing the Ukraine War thread reading about our past and obsolete armaments, when a spark of inspiration took me to Anchor Surplus, a company that I used twenty or so years ago to purchase used kit for my son and his mates who were at that time Army Cadets. They used to display either an aircraft or a tank at their Ripley Depot and various dud (hope so) missiles at Nottingham. Lo and behold I forgot to look to them for a Union Flag for the front of my house a few weeks ago, they have them for sale now at £1.50 each. I doubt that they were that price then! Anchor Supplies To my surprise they seem to be still going.
