I am trying to find out about the WW2 service of this man who was born 30 September 1919 at Tynemouth Northumberland and died in May 1966 in Tenby. He married Marjorie D Lemon in Pembrokeshire Oct 1945. Apparently he was a Chindit in Burma. On the 1939 census he is shown as a waiter working in Bagshot. His father with the same name was in the Northumberland Fusilliers in WW1 and I know about him. But I can't find anything about this man's service or what Regiment he was in. How would I go about it?
Only one place and that is his service records: Requests for personal data and service records: a detailed guide - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
As Tony56 states the only way for WW2 records is to apply via the Gov website You will not find them on line even if site state they have them date of birth, death cert and £30 is the current requirement to apply
