    John,

I'm more than willing to share the war diaries of the 2/7 MX Regiment that i have.

Unless I'm missing something here, I'm not sure if you have mentioned how you have gleaned the information regarding your Father? I think it may-be wise to get his Service Records back before we carry-on?

If you are struggling when it comes to showing the pages of the service records when you get them, then let me know? Thumbnail images can be tricky to read. You will see what i mean when you receive them.

    Regards,
    Stu.

Originally I was going to wait till I had my fathers war records before going much further with researching his time in WW2 but things sometimes take on a life of their own. As I've mentioned I don't really know much about my father as he died 60 years ago when I was quite young, I only have a couple of photos of him and nothing much else. Two things have led me to this site. One is that I remember my dad having a limp, walking with the aid of a stick and having to wear a built up shoe and was told by my mum that he was badly injured in the war and spent about two years on and off in St James hospital in Leeds, so I've always wondered how that injury came about. Then recently I got a 1945 diary from my half uncle which had my dads service number written in it. Using that I did a general search on "The site we must not mention" and found that he was injured 16th Feb 1943 Italy. I have also today come across something which may also interest you. You asked if there were any Christmas cards or anything he might have sent home and tucked among the few photos I recently acquired was a Military Airgraph. I've never seen this before but it gives a load of information. I've deciphered most of the names so I will post them as well to save you squinting at the screen. It shows that my dad was at the time (unknown as not dated as far as I can see) in No2 Company, 'C' Bde (brigade?) Support Group of the 2/7 Middlesex Regiment B.N.A.F (?).
The scan file is too big to post so I will run it through some photo software and upload it when I can. This is what it says:

Military Airgraph Service authorised by Egyptian Postal Service
(Sent by him to his mother)
    Sender - 6212054 Pte L Jennison, No2 Coy, 'C' Bde Support Group 2/7 Mx Regt B.N.A.F (?).

So, it looks has if your Father may have been in 'C' Support Group? I need to do some more reading.

Thanks for the information that you have given me. To busy at work at the moment.

I still maintain that we should wait till we get his records. It does not help that I'm still on my phone. One name does ring a bell. I must state again that it is not (1943.)

Correct not 1943, must be sometime (possibly years) before 16/02/1943. Agree probably best to wait till I get his records. Many thanks for the information so far. If OK with you I will get in touch when I get his records. Thanks in advance. I managed to reduce the scan file. Attached for info.

    Regards

    John,

I've clocked two names on the list that you have provided.

When i get more time over the weekend then i will come back with the information that i have. Don't worry about your Father's Records. One piece of advise that i will give you is that you will have to get them scanned at A4 size. When you get them back, some of them may have been copied in A3 size paper: Parts of ( mine was!) I will start a conversation with you & provide my e-mail address. If you wish to show yours Father's records on the forum, then do you use (Full Image) instead of Thumbnail. See image below.

It helps members who have shocking eye-sight!:D. P.S. If you need them to be resized when you get them, then let me know & i will help you out with them. Trying to photo them on your phone may be tricky?

    Regards,
    Stu.
