Hi My dad who is no longer with us, was a WW2 Royal Engineer Sapper. He landed attached to Canadian forces on D Day, so wish to use this forum to find out more information about his history and pass record onto my sons. Regards Dave
Hi Dave and welcome Do you have his service records? - if not then I would suggest applying for them Request records of deceased service personnel - GOV.UK and go from there. If you look at the forums page then at the bottom of that page member Trux has a section all of his own re D Day under the heading of 21st Army Group and he has a specific section for 'Engineers' that is well worth a read for general information - Engineers TD
Thank Qwen and Tricky Dicky. I will requst service records, but have to organise copy of death certificate from where he died in South Arica, but more difficult as I am in Australia.
