Threads such as this make me proud that this website continues the fight that our ancestors fought. We need to be alert to the continual recycling of poisonous ideas.
"The best predictor of belief in a conspiracy theory is belief in other conspiracy theories," says Viren Swami, a psychology professor who studies conspiracy belief at the University of Westminster in England. " As usual, the deniers fall into highly predictable patterns. If you can trust the researchers? Interestingly, you are twice as likely to believe in conspiracy theories if you do not have a post secondary education. That still leaves 1 in 5 "educated" citizens who embrace some form of belief.
Interesting reading here!!! Well, I have been dealing with Holocaust deniers on the American Yahoo Homepage for almost three years now. No anti-American snide comments either please and thank you. I live here and I like living here. Many of the younger generation of Americans are too far removed from the events of WWII and most likely did not receive Holocaust education in their high schools. Come to think of it, neither did we at the schools I attended whilst growing up in England. Again, my Father was at the Bergen-Belsen Camp after its liberation and what he saw affected him for the remainder of his life. He was just told to "get on with it." Nowadays, he would have received treatment for PTSD. It's actually ironic how many people believe that concentration camp inmates had access to the Red Cross, a swimming pool, an orchestra and good food. What is even more ironic is that some are adamant in their belief of the aforementioned. Otherwise, I am told that my Father was at no such camp, no such camps ever existed, and the typical comment of "you can't fix stupid." Well, there you have it.
I cannot understand why people who know that all their family just vanished are not believed. Hundreds of thousands of people know this happened to them and that is a terrible pain to live with. It must be even more cruel when you are faced with such mass ignorance. There is plenty of evidence which any sane, educated person can see. Lets face it ignorance and prejudice are very common, and with that combination, individuals will stay in their comfort zones and read and listen to anything that does not challenge them.
No sane person can deny the documentary evidence taken at the time of the camp liberations by the Allies. Regards Tom
