Post #51 told you of his life after 1938
As for what happened after 1951, that's what we don't know.

hi Sorry I'm not quite understanding. I didn't see Leslie's name mentioned in the quote and searched his name in that journal but didn't find anything. Are you saying that "Leslie Hayde" was Paper controller In 1938 he was appointed head of the Ad. Hoc. Paper Control Committee and took up his duties as Paper Controller on the outbreak of the war? This appointment he held until March, 1951, when he resigned for health and business reasons

No. Alieneyes posted this as a simple reference to the Athletics Club to which Leslie Hayde represented against the Buffs. That paragraph bears no personal reference to him.

Can anyone tell me where they found the longer article about Leslie Hayde being charged with assault? I found the shorter blurb on find my past newspaper search but not the longer one which says he was put up for identification with 12 other soldiers.

    thanks!

I posted the short version but then the comment about the witness and location and court date were made afterwards but no other news paper article appears to have been posted here ? In conclusion someone has possibly forwarded it in a pm which we would wouldnt be able to view in open forum or someone already knew about about the story prior to me finding it in its shorter version and posting it up here? Either way it doesnt help your cause trying to find the facts with the help of all the members on this forum if other info is known and not shared :)

As you know I have supplied quite a lot of info, either on here or privately, so not sure what article you are referring to, can you post it so I can see.

That screen print is not mine, so think that you obtained it elsewhere, however I had previously supplied the article by PM to Margret along with the “Quarrel at Cheriton” story that is now on her Ancestry page.

That said you will find it on FMP.

    Hi everyone,

On this, the day that would have been Leslie Hayde's birthday I have a suggestion from my brother Ian that the Michael Fenton in the attached passenger list to Singapore just might be our Michael Fenton born feb 16, 1913. Can anyone find anything that would prove or disprove of this theory or have any suggestions on how we could find out for sure?

    Many thanks to all,

    David

thanks tricky, what website are you using for the searches? I could only find the Singapore passenger list. the only other Michael Fenton born in 1913 England is the football player from stocton whose birthday is Oct 30th. Can you find anything about a Michael Fenton whos a schoolteacher at Blackheath's St Josephs academy?
