My late father was a member of HQ Squadron, 31st TB (Armoured Brigade) for the duration of the NW Europe campaign. As such he had interesting stories to tell which unfortunately were not recorded. I am therefore trying to fill in some of the gaps. The rather irreverent publication "Frolics in the thirty-first" gives list of names and locations from Newcastle to Berlin but unfortunately no dates and some of the place name spellings appear to have changed or disappeared from maps completely. My searches usually refer me back to the war diaries of the individual regiments attached to the brigade, which although interesting, does not help me with the activities of the brigade HQ squadron itself. The bottom line to this is - Is there a war diary in existence specifically for the HQ squadron of 31st tank brigade? If not, has anyone done any in depth research into this squadron who would be prepared to share?
