Can anyone please help with details of the crash of a Mk1 Hawker Hurricane Z7062 of 232 Squadron which crashed during a mock attack on the defences of Consett, Co Durham on 30th August 1941. The pilot was 23 year old P/O John Heron Wire and he is buried in St Mary's Churchyard at Stamfordham, Northumberland which is quite close to RAF Ouston. All of those details are well known but what were the actual circumstances of the accident?

According the Met Office archives, there was little weather wise that may have contributed.

Forecast (for most of the Eastern side of the country):
Light or moderate N.W. winds. Scattered showers, with thunder in places this afternoon; fair later, considerable bright periods; rather cool.

Observations for Tynemouth (nearest location listed and paraphrased)
Light winds, 3000' cloud base broken to overcast, visibility good.

Thank you RAFCommands and Blutto - that is exactly what I wanted. Apart from the awful handwriting, I couldn't have asked for better!
