This is a bit of an idiot question really, but how do I go about 'overtyping' the title on a link so that it is more obvious what it's about ? I've just posted one from the National Archive and it would be far more evident even if I could just change it to 'Here' JavaScript Support Check Gobbledeegook I reckon. Me and Ned Ludd are going to complain about it
type in a word then highlight it then click the symbol of a Globe & paste in the url into the text box that pops up. <TABLE border=0 cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 width="100%" unselectable="on"><TBODY unselectable="on"><TR unselectable="on"><TD unselectable="on"> </TD><TD unselectable="on"> </TD><TD unselectable="on"></TD><TD unselectable="on"> luddite </TD><TD width="100%" unselectable="on"></TD><TD unselectable="on"> </TD><TD unselectable="on"> </TD><TD unselectable="on"> </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
1) Type the text you want to show: Mr Rich Payne 2) Highlight it by dragging the mouse over it 3) Click the hyperlink button 4)Paste the url you want to use into the box that pops up & click OK Job done: Mr Rich Payne Hope that helps ~A (sorry, Owen beat me to it. but at least that's 2 lots of abuse for one query )
Cheers Chaps. My natural sense of curiosity which sends me delving in lists of census and part numbers is strangely unmoved by all these little coloured pictures. In fact I'd never even noticed that funny globe thing before. I really must learn to think more like an American teenaged nerd and less like a middle aged English rivet-counter ! I expect it'll take me a few goes to get the hang of it.
muahaha, evil hyperlinks will soon take over the world (sorry, but there has to be at least one crazy one around here, and I think that I suit the job quite well!)
Adam Forgive me if I try it out. This is a test link to Pete Doherty posting Blimey !.......... it actually works ! Thanks Gents Ron
Works with links in amongst your signature as well. I just retitled the links in my signature which had the web address, backslashes & all. Go into User CP, Edit Signature, click on the link & you can edit the title and the link itself stays intact.
People may notice, that the new software now does exactly what the Old Old software did. Post a link, and it'll now automatically parse it into whatever the page title of that link is. No more mucking about with selecting and pressing buttons. This: Imperial War Museums Instead of this: Code: http://www.iwm.org.uk/
