    Talking of tanks.......there's quite a large building site not far from where I live. It used to be a lovely, public path, country walk. To keep it all safe/secure there's a fence, but they've also dumped all the foundation diggings, along the path.... building up a significant ridge.

    I was walking the dog the other day and, from behind the ridge, you could hear the caterpillar tracks of some heavy machinery.....and I immediately thought of how completely and utterly petrifying it must be, in war, to be that close to enemy tracked vehicles. Hearing them, so close.........

    Is it weird that every time I see a picture of the Thames from that angle I look for the barge carrying Nelson's body and wonder if Hornblower is below decks trying to save the whole mission?

    Modern buildings are ugly, soulless structures. One of those buildings looked like it's been jeweled (dowel rod with polishing compound). Bring back neo-classical.
