Here are some videos of the V1 Rocket some great footage.

    Ww2 V1 Flying Bomb

Here is a good web site with some cracking details on the attacks of the V1 rocket on London from 1944-1945. You can also hear what the rocket sounded like.

I hate to sound picky, but several posts have referred to the V-I 'rocket'.

It wasn't a rocket, the motor was a pulse-jet engine. The V-2 was a rocket.

Just found this in the war diary of 8 Canadian LAA Regt for 31st July 1944:

"All troops of 70 Bty are now deployed in the Gun Defended Area around Caen. "A" Troop engaged a flying bomb, flying towards the German lines. There were no hits."

    The same incident?

good day gage, super moderator.26th march,2009,04:02pm.re:incoming v1.(doodle bug)i have watched many fly over our house in london when i was a lad.seen them begin there fall when the gyro fails, sometimes in the early days the fighter pilots tried to shoot them down.they were faster than our planes.but when some caught up.they tried to tip the plane wing under the bomb wing.it would make the gyro fail and she would come down.they stoped doing that as they had no control where the bomb would fall.thank you for an interesting post regards bernard85 :indexCA7C9VES:
