Hi there, I have a relative that died in India aged 21 in 1939 'Pvt Alfred Hampson' - He is currently burried in Dehli war cemetry. If anyone has any information about this event or knows of any websites that explains the history of the event (campaign) or any history of the East Lancashire regiment 2 Bn then it would be most appreciated. I Just do not know where to search on the internet, and get confused with what I read as Im not sure if it is relevant to me?????

    Many Thanks
    Mark Hampson:)

I suspect he would have died due to an illness or accident.
    From CWGC site.
More than 25,000 servicemen of the forces of undivided India died during the Second World War in non-operational zones, for example while serving with regimental depots or with other static units.

Have you tried to get his service record from here?
You'll have to prove you are next-of-kin or your other relations will.
