Can anyone shed some light on these relatively short lived units? From what I have been able to find they were formed in 1941 as the 1st, and 2nd Indian Support Groups and assigned respectively to the 1st and 2nd Indian Armoured Divisions. In October 1941 they were renumbered with the rest of the armoured units and became the 31st and 32nd Support Groups. Both Groups were both disbanded by mid 1942.

Were they a consolidation of the various artillery, engineer, signal, army service corps, medical & ordnance units that were assigned to the Armoured Divsions? In the Infantry Divisions these units all had their own commanders (CRA, CRE, CSO, CRASC, etc.) Or did they serve a different function?

And, if they were a consolidation of support units, what units were assigned to them?

Thanks in advance for any insight yu can provide.

These divisions had the same structure as British armoured divisions. You will find details here.

The structure of armoured divisions changed again in 1942 leading to the disbandment of the Support Group although most of the component parts remained.
