Hi all, I was hoping that someone here has the first names of the following SAS men (who were active in Holland in 1945): Captain P.N. Stuart (British) Captain R.J. Holland (British) Lieutenant J. Wardley (British) Sergeant F. Herring-Sweet (British) Sergeant P.E. van Beek (Dutch) Sergeant H.A.C. Kuipers (Dutch) Thanks and regards, JJHH EDIT: All first names are known by now - except Cpt. P.N. Stuart's first name.
The rosters won't have the christian names only the initials and rank as a rule. The best advice I could offer is to contact the SAS Association as ask if they are in their records.
I now have the name of Kuipers as well. That still leaves Stuart, Wardley and Herring-Sweet. Is this by the way the website of the association you mentioned? Special Air Service Regimental Association - Contact Us
Wardley is John Wardley of 2 SAS - interested to know what you are researching as I am in contact with him.

Im completing a book on Dutch Jedburgh & SAS operations at the moment. Could you put me in touch with Mr. Wardley? Very intresting will this be in English? and while there are no first names this list has the names of Herring-Sweet, Holland and Stuart all members of a Jedburgh team in Op Keystone. http://www.nisa-intelligence.nl/PDF-bestanden/KluitersDAG2foto.pdf Also this next link may be of use there is a pic that contains Sgt Kuipers, and the two guys speaking in the posts mention nominal rolls pertaining to ops Archway and Keystone. Hi Just found this thread Herring Sweets's first name is Frank. Cheers Arnhem Great! Thank you. This only leaves the first name of Cpt. Stuart..
Hi, This may be a strange posting, but I believe that the Pieter Eliza van Beek mentioned here was my Uncle. He was almost certainly a member of SOE, but as far as I am aware, he was a member of Force 136, based in Sri Lanka / Ceylon in 1945. At the end of the war in Asia he was a lieutenant, and was parachuted in to Pedang, Sumatra, in charge of a RAPWI team. It does appear that he was trained as a Jedburgh, but I am still trying to get his death certificate so that I can get the file at Kew unlocked. As far as the family knows, he was trained to be dropped behind the lines to help protect POW's, but in the end wasn't needed as the front was moving so quickly, and so was shipped out to Asia in the latter half of 1944. So if this SAS man wasn't him who was he? My current theory is that it was his identical twin brother Arend. They often switched places, and all we know is that he was "something in the air force", which might be a white lie. About the only identifying feature I have is that he had a dog called Mitchell, and was an anglophile.
I believe that this is the same man! Many Dutch SOE/SAS members were transferred to Force 136 in 1945. Would you happen to have a war time photo of him?
JJHH, I have most of the SAS files from Kew, there are a good few of them, but if you give me a few days I will see what I can find... And yes I know about the Dutch SAS Teams, did you in fact know that they were on stand by to go into the Arnhem area and get out Brigadier Hackett... Cheers Tom
