An Italian historian interviewed Italians in the Le Marche region of Italy at the turn of this century about their experiences of having an escaped PoW living with them. The Monte San Martino Trust has recently tranlsated these interviews into English, trying to stay as close to possible to the vernacular describing the trials and tribulations, fears and rewards of being part of this unique experience. The book is now available on Amazon UK and Amazon.com. Here is an link to the UK version. It's called "A People's Courage, civil resistance in German-occupied Italy". For some reason Amazon is showing its back cover. I attach a photo of the front!
