    Hi,

Wondering if that includes records from "North of Ireland"?

Initial 2016 release did include those civil records for a short time but they were withdrawn due to "complaint" from authorities in the "six counties" so that like the rest of UK their civil records are still only available on payment of a fee.

    Hi Richard,

That’s correct but there was a “small” window of opportunity when copies of the NI civil records were “freely” available via the Irish genealogy site (with a consequent loss of income to NI government) -

Welcome to Irish Genealogy - Irish Genealogy

Access was withdrawn after a few months (luckily I had “mined” the archive extensively) with a redirect to PRONI and the normal “paid” access for copies recommenced.

I’ll see what develops after next Tuesday but I expect the 2 governments will have liaised more closely about this release.
